Brush Fire Near Disney

In Osceola County crews battled a raging brush fire south of Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom.

Investigators say the fire flared up around 3:30 Friday afternoon, and jumped the plow line created by the Department of Forestry.

The fire consumed about 20-25 acres, and Osceola fire crews believe the fire was caused by a lightning strike from earlier this week.

No homes or businesses were threatened.

Fire crews say heavy smoke from the fire could severely limit visibility on the roads.

Motorists can expect to see intermittent road closures throughout the evening and the weekend, until the smoke threat has cleared.
