WALT DISNEY WORLD, Fla. (WESH) —A strange crash at Walt Disney World caused traffic jams in the area of World and Epcot Center drives.

The Florida Highway Patrol said an SUV went off the road and crashed into a large steel post that held a sign over World Drive.

The overhead sign, which spanned two or more lanes of traffic, fell when the SUV took out the supporting post. A Disney World spokesperson said

Northbound lanes of World Drive are open, but southbound lanes are blocked. This is south of Epcot Center Drive.

The FHP and Reedy Creek Emergency Services told WESH 2 News that one person was taken to Celebration Health with injuries that are not life-threatening.

A Disney spokesperson said all areas of the park are open, but some people will encounter detours.

The FHP said heavy equipment was en route to remove and repair the sign.

It’s not known how long it will take to clear the damaged sign or how long World Drive will be closed.
