Dead Man’s Chest is Disney’s biggest treasure

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest now ranks as the sixth highest grossing film of all time worldwide after another successful weekend at the box office. Gore Verbinski's tale of supernatural scurvy dogs has taken $923.8m (£487.2m) across the globe, which also makes it Disney's biggest ever release, ahead of Finding Nemo. With the film opening in Italy and Greece this week, it is expected to climb into fourth place – ahead of 1999's Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, which took $924.3m (£487.4m) worldwide, and 2002's The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, which took $926.3m (£488m).
