Disney Adding Defibrillators

Walt Disney World is adding more life saving devices at some of its most intense thrill rides.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Disney will be installing external defibrillators inside Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood studios.

Some of the attractions that will house the devices include Mission Space, Expedition Everest, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and less intense rides like the Haunted Mansion.

The move comes about one year after Jeffery Reeb, 44, suffered a fatal heart attack while riding Disney’s Expedition Everest ride.

Disney said the decision to add more defibrillators was not due to Reeb’s death.  Disney said a month before the incident it had already announced plans to add an additional 200 defibrillators.

Disney had already launched its own defibrillator program in 2001.
