Disney concert cancelled by Barenaked Ladies
The Barenaked Ladies has cancelled its August appearance at the Disney Music Block Party Tour in Uniondale, N.Y., after front man Steven Page was arrested last week on cocaine charges.
In a statement posted on the band's website, manager Terry McBride said that while members of the band “completely” support Mr. Page, “we don't want to put Disney in an awkward position before issues involving Steven's arrest are resolved.”
The group recently released an album, Snacktime, of 24 original songs for children.
The band was supposed to make a headlining appearance on the Disney tour from Aug. 22 to 24.
Mr. Page was arrested last Friday in an apartment in Fayetteville, N.Y., an affluent suburb of Syracuse, and released on $10,000 bail.
According to court documents, the singer allegedly said, “Yeah, it's cocaine,” when police questioned him about a powdery substance.
Two women were also arrested in the case: Christine Benedicto, whom court documents referred to as Mr. Page's girlfriend, and Stephanie Ford, her roommate.
