Disney Cruise Line announces summer 2018 sailings

Countries that begin with the letter I headline Disney Cruise Line‘s plans for summer 2018 offerings. When Disney Magic makes it annual foray across the pond, it will visit new ports of call in Ireland and Italy. And just for good measure, Magic will make a stop in Iceland again.

First up is Italy. Two June itineraries will see Magic sailing from Barcelona to Civitavecchia (Rome) and back with stops in Marseille, Villefrance, Genoa, Livorno and Naples on the way over, and trading out Villefrance for Cannes on the way back.

The Genoa, Italy stop is a first for the line, offering access to nearby Milan. Magic will call on Genoa as part of a 10-night July sailing as well.

Once again, Magic will split time among the Mediterannean, the British Isles, Baltic Sea and Norwegian Fjords. On a British Isles sailing leaving Sept. 2, Magic will call on Cork, Ireland for the first time while also visiting Dublin, Greenock, Scotland and Liverpool, England. Cork offers visitors access to the Blarney Castle, home to the famous Blarney Stone.

Disney Wonder, meanwhile, will return to Alaska in 2018 offering five-, seven- and nine-night itineraries departing from Vancouver and making stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point and Tracy Arm Fjord.

Back in Florida, Disney Dream and Fantasy will continue to offer year-round service from Port Canaveral. Dream, which normally does three- and four-night sailings will go on a series of four- and five-night cruises that make two stops at the cruise line’s private Bahamas island Castaway Cay. Fantasy, which will do mostly seven-night Caribbean cruises will have one 11-night southern Caribbean voyage leaving June 30 that visits Aruba, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, Puerto Rico and Castaway Cay.

Three of Disney’s four-ship fleet have gone under significant refurbishment in recent years with Disney Magic in 2013, Disney Dream in 2015 and Disney Wonder last fall. In addition, the line has rolled out new stage shows to both Magic (“Tangled”) and Wonder (“Frozen”) and plans on a new show for Dream this fall (“Beauty and the Beast). Disney Fantasy is due for a dry dock this year, but no changes have been announced for the five-year-old ship.

Disney Cruise Line plans on bringing two more ships into the fleet, but details on those, which are due in 2021 and 2023 have not been announced.

Booking for the summer 2018 cruises opens to the public Feb. 23. Call 888-325-2500 or go to disneycruise.com.
