It’s that time of year again — time to vie for the title of Coolest Mom (or Dad) on the Planet, otherwise known as a spot on the 2020 Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Applications open Sept. 5 at noon EDT and close Sept. 12 at noon EDT. (Note: While it’s the “moms” panel, dads and those who are child-free are welcome to apply.)

Visit disneyparksmomspanel.disney.go.com/recruiting/search-begins-soon for details.

Imagine waking up, firing up the laptop and tackling an assortment of questions proving your know-it-all-ness when it comes to the various Happiest Places on Earth.

Last year, applicants were required to:

  • Submit an autobiography and personal photo and/or video to be posted online.
  • Have visited either Walt Disney World or Disneyland at least once in the last 12 months. If applying to be a Disney Cruise Line or Disney Vacation Club Panelist, volunteers must have experienced that vacation within the last 24 months.

Once on the panel, Disney expects you to answer 10-20 questions a week from potential park visitors, investing at least 20 minutes into each query. Sample questions from 2019 range from advice on advance planning and park rules to tips on what activities are best for various age groups.

Disney is seeking experts on:

  • Disneyland
  • Disney World
  • Disney Vacation Club
  • Disney Cruise Line

If you happen to be an expert on all four, your chances of earning a spot may have gone up. Though if you’re a man, your chances may have gone down — just four of the 33 members of the 2019 panel are male.

Know that Disney also is a stickler for spelling, punctuation, grammar and the usual communication rules rarely found on Twitter and other social media posts. Complete and coherent sentences are always a plus, so keep that in mind should you apply.

Panelists get a Disney vacation

Panelists are volunteers, though the gig does come with a free Disneyland or Disney World vacation for the chosen moms (or dads, as we are obligated to mention) and up to three family members.

Applicants must be able to travel to Disney World Dec. 11-15 for training, and must leave family and friends at home. It’s serious business, this Moms (if not a few Dads or Child-Free people) panel.
