It appears that Disney’s Jungle Cruise movie has finally found its captain.

The Shallows helmer Jaume Collet-Serra will direct Dwayne Johnson in the action-adventure based on the classic Disneyland ride.

While park-goers are taken on a journey through the rivers of the world, from Africa’s Nile and Congo rivers to South America’s Amazon, exact plot details for the feature are being kept under wraps.

Johnson will also produce the adventure project with Dany Garcia, the co-CEO of the duo’s Seven Bucks Productions banner, which will next release Jumanji. Beau Flynn, John Davis and John Fox will also produce. The studio is shooting for a spring 2018 start of production.

After a string of successes in the thriller and horror genres, Collet-Serra has been an in-demand director for larger studio fare. At one time, he was in the running to direct the Suicide Squad sequel for Warner Bros/D.C.

His next feature is the Liam Neeson mystery, The Commuter, for Lionsgate, and he is attached to direct the true story of the 51-day standoff between the FBI and a cult in Waco, Texas for Annapurna.

Collet-Serra is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Hansen Jacobson.
