‘Netflix for Disney’ has launched and you can get a free one-month trial

The UK-only subscription service DisneyLife will offer films, TV, books, music, and apps.

Never one to lag on the technological front, Disney has now taken the step to launch its very own streaming service with the suitably world domineering-titled DisneyLife.

Though a fair chunk of Disney’s movies are already available on multiple streaming platforms like Netflix, the new UK-exclusive service boasts that it will contain “the biggest Disney movie collection in one digital membership.”

This includes animation classics like The Jungle Book, live-action features like the Pirates of the Caribbean series, and Pixar’s own back catalogue of tearjerkers; all alongside plenty of additional content, from bloopers to behind-the-scenes featurettes. One thing worth nothing, though: Disney-owned Marvel and Star Wars content isn’t included at this time.

With the monthly subscription fee priced at £9.99 per month, it might initially seem like a pricey choice for families already registered with streaming platforms; especially since Netflix and Amazon Instant Video’s fees are only priced at £5.99 per month. Yet, for any family currently landed with a Disney-obsessed kid; the real draw to Disney’s service is the multimedia experience offered for its price ticket.

The new service will not only include movies and TV shows; but also books, music, and the option to download one free app each month. All in up to five languages. That means you can switch straight from the mega-popular Disney Channel series Jake and the Neverland Pirates to a viewing of 1953’s classic Peter Pan.

Members will also be able to create six profiles per subscription, with individual parental control options, spread across 10 compatible devices; downloadable on both IOS and Android, whilst making use of both Airplay and Chromecast and with options to download content.

DisneyLife is currently available on a one-month free trial, with the option to continue on at the standard £9.99 per month.
