This incredible Disney employee was asked to retire but has showed up every day for 16 YEARS

They say if you do what you love, then you’ll never have to work a day in your life. For one Disney employee, that saying rings true. Even though 81-year-old Floyd Norman was fired from his job at the “happiest place on Earth,” he hasn’t stopped working at Disney studios in California.

Norman has worked on some of Disney’s most notable films, like Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, and The Jungle Book. He recalls that his first big job was fine-tuning the spotted four-legged pups in One Hundred and One Dalmatians.

And while those classics will live on forever, the animators behind those movies will not. Norman found himself in a pickle when Disney felt he was getting too old to do his job. He was fired from the company, not once, but twice.

He told The New York Post he was “so shocked” when Human Resources told him it was time to retire at 65. However, Norman kept showing up for work. The Post reports he’s been showing up to the animator’s offices for over sixteen years without a paycheck or badge.

As luck would have it, Norman’s 20-years-younger wife Adrienne happens to work at Disney as a storybook artist. Apparently, his wife sneaks him into the Burbank building every single day.

“People got used to seeing me so often, they assumed I [still] worked there,” Norman told The Post. “I don’t want to sit on the front porch. I want to work!”

Now, Norman has true dedication because most people have a hard time getting up in the morning for a job they actually have. Because Norman has been incredibly devoted to his work, he’s been the subject of a documentary, Floyd Norman: An Animated Life.

“There’s no better job than creating something that entertains people,” he said. “It’s putting a little light into a dark world.”

You guessed it, it’s about his life as the man who never stopped drawing — and showing up for work. And, btw, when Norman wasn’t sneaking into the Burbank offices, he was writing a book about Walt Disney.
