Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Grand Avenue
Walt Disney World has shared more information about yet another new area springing up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. The Muppets Courtyard and other nearby structures will be the base for the newly dubbed Grand Avenue.
Walt Disney Imagineering has been called upon to create an area “inspired by the revitalization and the vibrant culture of present-day downtown Los Angeles,” according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog. To achieve this, part of the former Streets of America section of the park will be incorporated into Grand Avenue.
Grand Avenue is expected to open this fall, Disney says.
The Muppets Courtyard is morphing into Grand Park, along with restaurants PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and shops.
The MuppetVision 3D attraction is staying put, although the theater will now be called Grand Arts Theatre, and it already has had a new marquee installed.
Disney previously had only mentioned Grand Avenue when announcing the BaseLine Tap House that moving in there. The pub will serve California beers and small bites. An opening date has not been announced.
The area backs up to other construction going on at Hollywood Studios, including Toy Story Land, which opens in 2018, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, set to debut in 2019.
