Disney gives Star Wars fans the first real picture of the Millennium Falcon ride at the new theme park land

STAR Wars fans are one step closer to actually flying the Millennium Falcon.

Disney have now released the first photo of the brand new attraction – and fans are going week at the knees.

With Disney’s new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme parks due to open in 2019 in California and Florida, fans have been eagerly awaiting glimpses from the actual park – and now they have one.

In the photo we can see a part of the ride – which looks like a corridor from a space ship.

Early artwork of the ride from Disney showed fans piloting the ship, so this is what fans are expecting when they finally get the chance to board.

Disney captioned the photo simply: “We’re home” – which is what Han Solo said when he originally entered the ship.

The mini theme parks, which are currently under construction and set to open in 2019, will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.

The remote trading port, a collaboration between Disney and Star Wars, is a mysterious destination somewhere on the Outer Rim — lying on the edge of the Unknown Regions.

The village was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel.

Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers travelling between the frontier and uncharted space.

It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order.

Unusual characters from across the galaxy have landed here, preferring the “no questions asked” environment, as well as easy access to exotic supplies and an abundant supply of ready rogues looking to join a crew for their next adventure.

Here, guests will find themselves in the middle of the action at two signature attractions, one of which lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customised secret mission – where today’s picture was from.

The second focuses on an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

At the two new signature attractions at both theme parks, guests will face encounters with characters including BB8, Chewbacca, Rex and Kylo Ren.

Unlike other theme parks, a plot line can follow guests throughout their day on the different attractions as the entire park is being created as an immersive theatre experience.

Guests can “build a reputation” at Star Wars Land, so what you do on one ride could affect what happens on others.

If you bring back Han Solo’s ship from an asteroid run heavily damaged for instance, someone might not be happy with you later in the day.

Or if visitors do well while piloting the Falcon they’ll be rewarded with extra Galactic Credits, but if not, they may find themselves hunted by a bounty hunter elsewhere in the park.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in 2019, with the first land debuting at Disneyland Park in California, then at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando later in the year.

It is thought that the Orlando Star Wars land is taking longer to build because of the new Star Wars hotel that is also launching at the site.
