Disney On Ice’s Frozen at Newcastle Entertainment Centre a big hit with little fans.

THE Newcastle Entertainment Centre has been transformed into the wintry world of Arendelle, much to the delight of the adoring Frozen fans lucky enough to attend the Disney On Ice shows this weekend.

The icy show – introduced by Mickey and Minnie Mouse and a swag of other Disney and Disney-Pixar characters – offered a kaleidoscope of colours, whirls and twirls, accompanied by the songs that have become so familiar to all because our youngsters just cannot, for the life of them, let them go.

But the delight and enchantment on the faces in the crowd – both young and old – spoke volumes as they watched Anna embark on her epic journey to save her sister, Elsa, and the kingdom of Arendelle.

The Disney On Ice team know what they are doing, and they do it well.

The set and costumes were spot on, and the special effects – particularly the falling snow and occasional zaps of “magic” – complemented the impressive moves and ever-smiling energy and enthusiasm of the cast.

Sven, the lovable reindeer, Olaf, and the trolls – particularly Grand Pabbie – were big hits with the crowd.

But the sheer size of seething ice monster Marshmallow drew gasps and delighted squeals from the crowd.

Some members, of said crowd, gave the show a score of “infinity out of infinity.”

That’s high praise.

But, if you can leave the venue without buying some kind of merchandise –or at least some Frozen-themed fairy floss – you are a better parent than this reviewer.

Pick your battles, I say, and enjoy the show.
