Disney’s ‘Zootopia’ to Get China Release

Walt Disney Animation Studios title “Zootopia” will get a theatrical release in China in March.

The company announced that the 3D cartoon will be released in China on March 3, in line with its release in the U.S. and U.K. on the same date. (Some other international territories release the film in February.)

It will be available in China in standard 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D and China Giant Screen formats.

The film is directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore. Previous Disney Animation hit “Frozen” achieved $48 million in 2014 at the Chinese box office.

The “Zootopia” outing will be the second revenue sharing release of 2016 for Disney, after “Star Wars The Force Awakens,” which was released on Jan. 9. “Star Wars” now stands on a cumulative total of $119 million after 19 days on release.
