Enchanted Princesses of Canberra needs new Disney-obsessed staff

Dazzling smile? Check. Charming personality? Check. Disney-obsessed? Check. Enchanted Princesses of Canberra has the job for you!

The brand new business, launched in October by Gungahlin mum-of-four Angela Fiori, is on a recruitment drive to find princesses for appearances at birthday parties and other events across the region.

Angela has Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine and Snow White-inspired dresses hanging on racks in her home, waiting to be worn by the princesses lucky enough to score a role with the new business.

“The house is busting at the seams with ball gowns, hoops and tiaras,” she laughed.

“We’re looking for performers with a great smile and who love children.”

Angela – who has four children under five, including a four-year-old daughter named Aurora after Sleeping Beauty – said she fell in love with Disney after visiting the LA theme park as a child. Her parents owned a Video Ezy store in Phillip for 25 years, and young Angela would roam the aisles, “hiring” as many Disney movies as she liked.

She decided to launch Enchanted Princesses of Canberra because she found it difficult to find “magical” entertainment for her three young daughters’ birthday parties.

“I just said to my husband, ‘I’m going to launch a business’ and I started buying beautiful, intricate costumes from across Europe and America,” Angela said.

“It’s really taken off but some of my original princesses have gone back to study and work and now I’m on a serious recruitment drive!”

Elsa, the ice queen from the 2013 movie Frozen, is “hands down” the most popular princess. But Angela is looking to re-introduce the classics like Snow White and Ariel, and believes the imminent release of the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast will have children falling in love with Belle all over again.

“It’s essential for our performers to watch the movies and know them off by heart and inside out,” she said.

“If a child asks why you didn’t bring Olaf [Elsa’s snowman friend] to the party with you, you need to have an answer for that.”

Getting dressed as a princess will take at least 60 minutes, according to Angela and – as business is booming – the successful princesses will need to make appearances at two or three different parties per day. And no texting, taking selfies or Snapchatting is allowed.

“There are absolutely no mobile phones allowed while you’re at a party,” Angela said.

“It ruins the magic.”
