Uber with a twist? Disney may be on to something

Would you be interested in an Uber service run by Disney?

Disney employees have been conducting a survey to park visitors asking that question.

A Disney analysts told Channel 9’s Jamie Holmes that it could be a game changer for how people get around Central Florida’s biggest draw.

For nearly 50 years, monorails have been the Magic Kingdoms most visual form of transportation.

But now, Disney might be working on something new: something like an Uber, with a twist.

“It’s a resort-to-resort ground transportation system,” said Disney analyst Tom Corless.

Corless said a Twitter user tweeted a picture of a Disney survey used to ask questions to random guests at the park.

Corless said that could mean Disney will create their own internal Uber with cars that move people within the grounds.

“The resorts are very popular. People at one resort may want to visit a restaurant at another resort,” said Corless.

Disney, though, has always looked to good ideas to make money, and Uber, the newest success for this generation, could be a new twist on a popular concept.

“Obviously, guests would pay, and they want to make money,” Coreless said.

Disney has deals with Mears taxi, which also runs some of the buses.

Corless said Mears could take a massive hit if Disney moves forward with an Uber-esque plan.
